Production Director

Salary Negotiable + Generous Commission Package

We are looking for an exceptionally ambitious and talented individual to join us as our Production Director, who will support the Managing Director in rolling out our full global portfolio of events in the UK, North America, and for the first time in 2010, Asia. You will have a minimum of 3 years production experience, and understand the importance of a detail-oriented approach to researching and producing commercial conferences. You will need to be able to translate your wealth of production experience into solid practical tips and advice for the team, and you’ll have a zero tolerance for the classic production mistakes, such as procrastination, lack of attention to detail, or having a limited vision for an event. Graduate With Commercial Experience Required For Trainee Event Marketing & Communications Position

Basic Plus Commission Minimum OTE £28,000 Year One
Basic Salary Commences Between £17,000 - £18,000 (depending on level of commercial experience) With Automatic Increase To £21,000 At Six Months And £25,000 At Twelve Months

We are looking for one exceptional graduate (min of a 2:1 degree and one years commercial experience) who is looking to develop a long term career in strategic marketing and sales.

You will be trained on all aspects of B2B conference marketing and sales through a fully structured training programme. Initially under supervision and guidance, you will take responsibility for driving delegate revenues on 6 conferences per year.

The role requires the development of strategic marketing capabilities (50%) and direct selling to b2b prospects (50%). We will consider applications from exceptional performers currently working in pure telesales roles (with 2.1 degrees), but are perhaps looking to diversify into campaign management and strategic marketing/communications.

This is a results driven trainee position. You will be encouraged to take responsibility for the entire campaign as early as your second event.

The core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Accountability for the delivery of delegate revenue on each of your six events through strategic marketing campaign formulation and direct communication to prospects
  • Spearheading the development of new marketing databases for new conference markets
  • Researching marketing campaigns from producer marketing briefs
  • Direct selling to prospects (after brochure sign off, you will spend 50% of your day doing this)
  • Putting together and signing off cost effective marketing plans
  • Negotiating cost effective deals with marketing partners
  • Engaging journalists and media on stories emerging from the conference content
  • Creating a "buzz' for each conference through the implementation of soft selling tactics and PR
  • Driving innovative campaigns through social networking media including the obvious (Linkedin, Facebook etc) and the not so obvious suspects (e.g. community specific portals)
  • Leveraging relationships with speakers and sponsors to drive delegate bookings
  • Advising the production management team on event branding and benefit orientated messaging

Especially engaging aspects of the role include:

  • Assisting with the development of online community portals for each events - we are looking to develop many of our conferences into stand alone businesses during 2010
  • Helping the MD's spec the design of new multi media web-pages
  • Setting up "duplicate" conferences in virtual online worlds
  • Developing multi-media marketing campaigns including the organization of "video talk show" campaigns with speakers and producers
  • International travel - we currently run half of our portfolio in the USA and we are developing new products for the Asian and African markets in 2010 - international travel in guaranteed when the event achieves its revenue target

Ambitious Graduates Required For Trainee Event Director & Conference Producer

London Business Conferences, and its sister company, American Business Conferences, produces high quality b2b events in a variety of different vertical markets. Our core purpose is to deliver high quality research-driven conferences that help businesses navigate the complex challenges of the 21st century.

We are looking for exceptionally bright and self driven graduates (minimum of a 2;1 degree with one years commercial experience) who are looking to build a long-term career in the commercial b2b events sector. The end game is to become a fully independent Event Director. You will be eventually be responsible for creating, leading, managing and fulfilling every aspect of a commercial conference. The role has an emphasis on business research, sales and commercial management rather than operations and logistics, which is an equally important but very different skill set.

The fully structured training programme offers “hands on experience” of creating, producing, selling, and marketing business conferences.
